EDITING CORPORATE VIDEO
I had written a huge post about the differences in mentality between TV production and dealing with agencies that do high end corporate video and commercials. But while proofreading it (a practice I encourage) I found it...to harsh.
Let me just say that they are completely different worlds. And that when dealing with an agency, I can't be as vocal about my point of view as I can on documentary and narrative productions. A lot more politicking (sp?) involved than I am used to.
Every time I work on a project that involves an agency I shake my head in wonder...

Awww come on man I want to read that one! I had 7 agency people in my suite yesterday. Actually 6 agency people and one university professor who had tagged along. I was called the equivalent of a "recording engineer" by the account guy. I just wanted to push the buttons that they called for and get back to some creative work ASAP.
I consider it...a form of venting. And this blog is far too public for me to do that. Might interfere with me getting future work.
But, you can obviously see where I am coming from. Guess we are going to leave it with "you are going to have to experience it." Or hear it in a private conversation.
As someone who does mainly corporate work and interact directly with clients, I'd have loved to read your original piece!
But it's very understandable that a blog like yours is probably not the best place for it... even if it's constructive criticism.
The furthest client-related venting I've done online was post the 'Rough Cut Lady' YouTube vid [thanks to you] on my Facebook profile - and it's NOT a public profile.
Shane, I'm a newcomer to your blog (but not your Cow stuff) so I'm just getting to this... all I can really say is that for those of us stuck in the corporate editing... uh... world... 'nuff said. We get it!
Now, what we need is a blog about how to get OUT of this area and into the better ones!
Love the blog - thanks for all the work you put in!
