VENDOR/CLIENT RELATIONSHIP...

OK, since I am on this video posting kick, you must, and I stress MUST watch the Vendor/Client Relationship in Real World Situations that my buddy Jim from Final Cut User found. This is a PERFECT example....VERY well done.

Why is it that clients think that standard business practices do not apply in the world of video/film production?

Software development is just like this as well. I'd laugh if this wasn't what I see every single day.

Software is much worse. Perhaps the worst of any industry, ever.

Excellent! My favorite part is the bit at the end...show us how to do it so we won't need you again...

Also, how about meeting the producer at his/her fancy house and being asked to cut a deal on a four day gig...oh, its one day a month for 4 months and it starts in two months...also don't forget to consider the state of the economy when creating your bid!

My standard answer: We can craft your film for our quote, or I can recommend a fine wedding videographer who would love to take a stab at branding your product.
